VCON Relaxicon 41½ Online Schedule!

VCON is the oldest general-interest science fiction, fantasy, and games convention in Canada and the Pacific Northwest that has promoted the interests of science fiction and fantasy culture in Vancouver BC and its environs since 1971, offering events and exhibits focused on a variety of Science Fiction and Fantasy fandom interest areas such as literature, art, media, music, costumes, comics, tabletop games, electronic games, etc. For more detailed information visit our website: www.vcon.ca.

This year’s convention’s theme is "Relax...", as in "Relax ... with a good book, ... with a great game, ... with beautiful art, ... with food and drink, ... with a blockbuster movie, ... with an engaging discussion, ... with friends, both old and new!"

After completing his Masters Degree in Sociology at the University of Auckland, Daniel returned to Canada, where he graduated from the studio acting program at the William Davis Centre for Actors Study, studied Clown with David McMurray Smith at Fantastic Space Enterprises, dropped out of Capilano College’s Arts and Entertainment Management program after one productive term, and was for five years a member of the CORE ensemble under Theatre Replacement and The Only Animal. Daniel co- founded Upintheair Theatre with Dave Mott in 1999. As Artistic Producer with Upintheair, Daniel has been instrumental in the creation of Wedgie, Men of the World, 120bpm, Wagabondi Ho!, Inside the Seed (nominated for 5 Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards in 2013/14, including Outstanding Production), the interactive detective procedural The City and The City, (which premiered at the 2017 PuSh International Festival of Performing Arts), The Walking Fish Festival, and the rEvolver Theatre Festival. Daniel has appeared in numerous short films, television, and commercials. On stage he has been seen most notably as Carlton Berg in Upintheair Theatre’s multi-Jessie award winning production of The North Plan, Frank in Daniel McIvors' Never Swim Alone (Street Repertory Theatre), Edmund in King Lear (Firehall/Shakespeare Centre), Sophie's Dad in Carnage (Pi Theatre), and Philip Lucas in David Hare's The Vertical Hour (United Players). Daniel is dedicated to the development of emerging artists and the nurturing of new audiences for theatre in Vancouver.
